Beets are made up of both an edible root and edible leaves, 10-12 inch green leafy stems ascend from beet's gold, smooth, bulbous root.
When raw, these beets are crunchy and have a starchy, earthy taste. When cooked, they melt in your mouth and taste sweet and earthy. Enjoy them steamed, sauteed, roasted, and pickled!
To store beets, trim the greens 2 inches from the root as soon as you receive them. Do not trim the tail. The root bulbs should be bagged and can be stored in the refrigerator crisper drawer 7 to 10 days.
